Troon Library are hosting a pop-up exhibition about the history of the RNLI in Troon.

Troon Lifeboat 150th anniversary exhibition
Researched and put together by our former Troon Lifeboat Coxswain, Ian Johnson, the exhibition shows the 150 year history of the RNLI in Troon from 1871 until the present day.

The exhibition is open during library hours until 20th August 2022.

Ian is also giving a talk at the library about the history of the RNLI in Troon on Tuesday 9 August at 7pm. This is a free event but booking is required. Please call 01292 315352 to reserve a place.

Key facts about the RNLI

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
