The documentary, Lighthouses: Building the Impossible will be screened at 9pm on Channel 5 this Friday, 29 April 2022.

The Seahouses Shannon class lifeboat and its volunteer crew feature in the programme that focuses on the challenging task of building lighthouses, to protect the shipping along the coastline.

It features the Longstone Lighthouse at the Farne Islands, in Northumberland, just offshore from Seahouses. From this location, Grace Darling carried out her famous rescue in 1838, from the wrecked steam ship Forfarshire, and became a national heroine.
