Lifeboats News Release

A huge thank you to the Helston & St Keverne Young Farmers who as a result of their Ploughing Match 2021 have raised a magnificent £300 for The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station.

The dreadful weather on the day certainly didn’t dampen their spirits and on behalf of us all at the station we are extremely grateful for their kind donation and support.

Lizard Lifeboat Chair Dr Chris Cuff, Lifeboat Operations Manager Ned Nuzum, Boathouse Manger Jeff Ashby and lifeboat crew members Adam Weston and Sam James all went along during the afternoon. Dr Cuff was asked to present the trophies to those triumphant in the ploughing matches.

Key facts about the RNLI

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
