Get on board and volunteer with Seahouses RNLI
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has an exciting opportunity for people to join their lifeboat team at Seahouses.
The charity is looking for a Lifeboat Operations Manager to lead the station’s team of volunteer crew and oversee the operational management of the lifeboat station.
This volunteer role may also include authorising the launch of the lifeboat on a day-to-day basis.
There is also an opportunity to join the team as a Deputy Launching Authority. This role involves coordinating the safe and effective launch of the lifeboat.
Both volunteer roles would be suited to team players who have:
· Local maritime knowledge
· Good communication and leadership skills
· Experience of people management
· Strong organisational and time management skills
Potential recruits would need to live or work within five miles of the station.
Ben Mitchell, RNLI Area Lifesaving Manager, explained: ‘We have two exciting opportunities for people to join our team at Seahouses RNLI. Both volunteer roles would involve leading and bolstering the existing team and managing the operations of the Shannon class and D class lifeboats.
‘The RNLI provides comprehensive training to turn ordinary people into lifesavers and by volunteering, people will gain some fantastic experience, knowledge and skills with the RNLI in Seahouses.
‘Around 95 percent of RNLI people are volunteers and find the experience an extremely rewarding one. It’s a great way to make new friends while helping to save lives at sea.’
