Wirral man completes inspirational personal fundraising challenge for the RNLI

Crowds cheered on the fundraiser as he reached the finish line of his 1,600-metre route around the car park.

The 40-year-old he has been training incredibly hard since March for the challenge, which has impressed his support workers, who were initially under the impression he was taking part in an organised event.

Support worker Derek McCallister says:

‘Finding out that Steven had come up with this idea himself and set himself this difficult challenge really is amazing. He really is incredibly and touched a lot of people's hearts with his strength and agility to do this walk with his rollator. Every chance we've had has been spent training I have taken him to different lifeboat stations and proudly took photos of outside. I'm so deeply proud of him what he is doing and the fact he is doing this for a lifesaving charity.

On Friday (20th August) Steven was presented with a medal at RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat station for his efforts which have resulted in over £2,900 being raised for the RNLI.

‘To say Steven is an inspiration really is an understatement. We are all incredibly touched that he has come up with this exceptionally tough personal challenge to raise funds to support our charity. The RNLI relies on voluntary contributions and legacies for income and is so grateful to people such as Steven for thinking of others, and helping our crews to continue saving lives at sea.’
