The Coastguard received a call from a member of the public, concerned they had heard a whistle from a lifejacket and also calls for help. The Lymington lifeboat was swift to launch under the helm of James Lever and quickly proceeded out of the Lymington River and towards the location given by the Coastguard.

The sea state was calm and it was a clear evening. The helm on arrival conducted a thorough search alongside the CRT from the sea wall. The lifeboat crew used several white para flares, to help illuminate the search area.

Nothing was found and the Lymington crew was stood down. The lifeboat was back at the station and prepared ready for service again at 22.00.

The helm James Lever said that the person who called the Coastguard did absolutely the right thing. It is important that the Coastguard and Lifeboat crews investigate any concerns that the public may have.
