New Brighton RNLI launch to assist with person stuck in mud

Lifeboat volunteers and other emergency services launched to assist person stuck in mud near to museum of Liverpool building Sunday 26 January.

New Brighton lifeboat volunteers were tasked by UK Coastguard on Sunday 26 January at 8:08pm to assist with report of a person stuck in mud near to the Museum of Liverpool building.

New Brighton Lifeboat crew members identified the casualty to other emergency services on the dockside before deploying from the boat to provide assistance and reassurance to the casualty.
The volunteer crew realised that the tide was incoming and the casualty was quickly extracted from the mud with the assistance of Wirral Coastguard before being lifted onto the dockside by Mersey Fire and Rescue service.

The casualty was then handed over and removed to hospital for further treatment by North West Ambulance.

Mark Dyer, Deputy Launching Authority, New Brighton Lifeboat said: ‘This was a difficult rescue which was complicated by the incoming tide. The crew deployed from the boat after identifying the casualty and helped coordinate a response between, RNLI, Coastguard and Merseyside Fire and rescue. The casualty was then handed over to North West Ambulance. This rescue showed excellent teamwork between several emergency services leading to the safe rescue and treatment of the casualty.’
