Carrybridge RNLI assist two people on a broken down vessel

Winds were South Westerly, Force 2. Visibility was good with overcast skies.

The lifeboat and RWC arrived on the scene and slowly proceeded to the vessels location close to the reed line. After assessing the vessel and the condition of the two adults on board, all were found to be safe and well.

With the owner’s permission the volunteer crew of the lifeboat set up a tow line to the casualty vessel and proceeded to tow the vessel into deeper water, and then onwards to the Killyhevlin jetty.

Speaking following the call out, Chris Cathcart, Helm at Carrybridge RNLI advised all boat users: ‘‘Before setting out on your journey please plan your route and carry out regular checks of their vessels. Also have a means of calling for assistance if you find yourself in trouble. If you see someone in trouble on the water or are in difficulties yourself the number to dial is: 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.’’
