This was an enormous task as 10 boards relating to the inshore launches needed to be completed, along with 2 boards for the main boathouse. The boards are very large, approximately 750mm in width and 1670 mm at the top of the arched shape.

The boards had been made at Norfolk Joinery, who charged just for the wood, and then Boyer’s Body and Service Centre coated them in special paint at no cost to Cromer RNLI. Without these contributions the project would never have been able to be completed.

Once this preparatory work had been completed, Derek Hinds – Chairman of RNLI Cromer and Ted Luckin RNLI Cromer Boathouse Officer, took the boards over to Steve Soanes. The information for the service boards was provided by a member of Crew at RNLI Cromer – Paul Russell – who is an authority of the history of the station.

Over the next few weeks the all weather station boards will be placed on the walls for our many visitors to see. Next year at a presentation evening the inshore lifeboat boards will be on show for all our supporters and visitors to read and admire.

This work could not have been undertaken without the amazing support and generosity of Soanes Signs.

Derek Hinds, Chairman, commented:“We are totally overwhelmed and extremely thankful for the support given to our lifeboat station by these local companies which keeps the history of our station updated.”
