On Wednesday 23 October 2019, three members of Looe Writers Group, Jim Rickards, Jane Malcolm and Viv Bennett visited Looe RNLI Lifeboat Station to make a donation of £201.30. Jane Malcolm explained that this money was raised through the sale of volume one of their collection of short stories and poems. Jane went on to say that the writers group were showcasing their latest work through a second volume of their stories and poems at the Old Sardine Factory Heritage centre on Saturday 16 November 2019 at 2pm. The writers group say that proceeds from their second volume will also be donated to Looe RNLI and they hope to match or beat the money already raised by volume one.

The three representatives of the writers group were met by Dave Haines, Looe lifeboat station’s operations manager and several of the volunteer crew. After presenting their cheque they were shown around the charity’s inshore lifeboats and launch tractors. In thanking the group for their generous donation, Dave Haines explained how their donation would be used to ensure the inshore lifeboats are always ready for service, enabling our volunteer crews to continue saving lives at sea.
