The crew were paged at 16.20 and the Atlantic 75 'Miss Betty' was launched with 3 crew on board. Initial reports were sketchy at best, with no location given. The boat was launched into reasonably challenging conditions and conducted a search, directed by the Coastguard, north at Garron Point and south through the bay adjacent to Cowie before being sent towards Dunnottar Castle.

No person was located and the crew were stood down by Aberdeen Coastguard after the Police located the person involved on land.

The boat returned to the station where it was refuelled and made ready for service once again.
