High Sheriff of Kent awards Dungeness and Dover RNLI stations
Volunteer Vice Chairman of Dungeness RNLI Fundraising Committee, Brian Wilkinson, attends High Sheriff of Kent Awards 2019 to receive an award in recognition of Dungeness RNLI station’s contribution to the community of Kent.
Both RNLI Dungeness and RNLI Dover were recognised at the awards which took place at the County Hall in Maidstone on Thursday 21 March.The RNLI stations were alongside other charities within Kent that were presented with an award for contribution to the county. A donation of £312.50 was also presented to each of Dungeness and Dover RNLI stations along with a surprise box of treats for the crew.
Jane Ashton, High Sheriff of Kent says: ‘It has been a great challenge to choose organisations for the High Sheriff’s Awards. I have been privileged to visit many charities, all dedicated and committed to serving those in need.’

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service.
