Cleethorpes Lifeboat rescues two from mud and incoming tide
Two people were rescued from mud near Wonderland in Cleethorpes in a dramatic operation as the tide rose.
On arrival, the water had just reached the pair, who were stuck in mud up to their waist. The lifeboat crew were joined by mud rescue specialists from the Coastguard Rescue Team at Cleethorpes, and together dug them out by hand.
Both were handed over to the Coastguard team for medical assessment.
Helmsman Shaun Sonley said: 'The tide was rising fast around them, by high tide there will be several metres of water in that location. This was a swift and professional operation by the two teams working closely together. Both were well stuck and there is no way they could have escaped unassisted.'
