Blyth RNLI volunteers tow two stricken vessels in two days
Blyth RNLI have been requested by UK Coastguard to come to the aid of two vessels that have had mechanical issues
On Sunday 28 July at 12.28pm the volunteer crew were requested to come to the assistance of an angling boat that was on the south side of the West Pier at the entrance to the Port of Blyth.
Having launched quickly due to the volunteer crew having been at the station for their normal Sunday exercise training, the Atlantic 75 made it's way to the vessel.
After establishing that the five people on board were safe the vessel was towed back to the Blyth Boating Association and returned to lifeboat station at 1.45pm
Then on Monday 29th July at 1.47pm the volunteer crew were paged by UK Coastguard to a vessel that was a mile south east of Blyth and had suffered gearbox failure.
The station's Atlantic 75 was again launched and was on scene at 2.02pm.
A tow was quickly established and the vessel was taken to its moorings which were again at the Blyth Boating Association were the Blyth Coastguard Rescue Team were also in attendance.
The lifeboat then made it's way back to the station and made ready for service at 3.11pm.
