A busy end of the weekend for the volunteers of the Llandudno Lifeboat Station
Llandudno’s all-weather lifeboat William F Yates was called out by Holyhead Coastguard and launched at 7.36 pm Sunday to go to the assistance of a 30ft yacht which had encountered mechanical difficulties approximately three miles north of the Great Orme.
In favourable conditions The William F Yates with her volunteer crew soon reached the stricken craft and after securing a towline proceeded into the River Conwy to place the boat on a safe mooring, its two occupants unharmed.
The lifeboat then returned to the Llandudno Lifeboat Station for its beach recovery at 10.25 pm.
Meanwhile, in what proved to be a busy night for the volunteers, the inshore lifeboat Dr Barbara Sauderson was also tasked to launch at 8.43pm to join the Llandudno Coastguard team in providing assistance to two people who had been stranded by the incoming tide on the Rhos on Sea harbour breakwater. The inshore lifeboat was taken by road to Rhos on Sea where the volunteer crew of three launched to swiftly rescue the casualties. The lifeboat then returned to the Cayley slipway to place the two people who were unharmed into the care of the Coastguard team.
