Both of Whitby RNLI's lifeboats launched to motorboat taking on water
The RNLI volunteers at Whitby were called to an incident yesterday morning (Sunday 6 January) during a routine training exercise.
After assessing the situation it was decided that the quickest and safest course of action was for the inshore lifeboat to escort the motorboat to the marina after measures were taken to stop the intake of water.
A Whitby RNLI crew member said: ‘Thankfully there was only a minor issue on the boat which we could quickly resolve, those on board did the right thing by contacting us promptly before the situation developed.
If you get into difficulty while out on the water you can alert the coastguard by calling 999.’
