St Ives lifeboat launches to surfer

The lifeboat launched quickly with Scott Perkin as helm, and crew members Barney Stevens and Jake Martin. As the crew arrived on scene, members of the public were already assisting the casualty out of the water, along with his board.

Scott Perkin explained ‘ After quickly arriving on scene, I decided that we should put a crew member ashore to check on the gentleman's welfare, and also to ensure there was no secondary drowning caused from cold water shock. But we were all thankful that he was well and without injury or health concerns’.The crew then waited for the coastguard to arrive to take control of the scene, and then returned to the station and readied the lifeboat for service.
