Lifeboats News Release

The Deputy Launching Authority (DLA) is on call on a rota basis and is the first point of contact for the Coastguard in the event of a request to launch the lifeboats.

Deputy Launching Authority Recruitment
After speaking to the Coastguard they are then required to attend at the lifeboat station prior to the lifeboat launching on service. At other times the DLA may be required to deputise for the Lifeboat Operations Manager when he is unavailable at internal and external meetings.

This is a voluntary on call shore based role and the successful candidates will supplement the existing DLAs at the lifeboat station who support our Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM).

If you are a team player with leadership skills and local maritime knowledge this could be the role for you. You must be between 17 and 70 years of age, live or work in Troon within a 5-minute drive of the lifeboat station, ideally with day time availability.

This is a great opportunity to join a motivated and enthusiastic local team. If you are interested in this role and would like an informal chat or an application form please contact our Lifeboat Operations Manager David Shaw or Coxswain Joe Millar by contacting the lifeboat station on 01292314414 during office hours.
