Carrybridge RNLI assist five people on two separate call outs

Winds were South Easterly, Force 3. Visibility was excellent.

The lifeboat and RWC arrived with the casualty vessels which were floating close to the shoreline of Naan Island. The volunteer crew checked the passengers on the PWC’s and found they were all ok. One crewmember from the lifeboat cleared the obstructions on both PWC’s, and once tested that they were operating ok, they proceeded on their onward journey.

Just as the volunteer crew of the lifeboat and RWC were leaving the casualty vessels, they observed another PWC with three persons on board, entering shallow water and at risk of grounding. The lifeboat and RWC diverted to this craft, and it was escorted by the RWC into deeper and safer water before proceeding also in its onward journey.

Speaking following the call out, Chris Cathcart, Helm at Carrybridge RNLI advised all boat users: ‘‘Before setting out on your journey please plan your route and carry the relevant charts and have a means of calling for assistance if you find yourself in trouble. If you see someone in trouble on the water or are in difficulties yourself the number to dial is: 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.’’
