Calshot RNLI respond to call for help from broken down speed boat
At 8.40pm on Sunday 28 April, Calshot RNLI D Class Lifeboat 'Willet' was requested to launch by the HM Coastguard to reports of a flare sent from a broken down vessel.
Once the casualty location was determined by the helicopter they were able to use their search light to keep the unlit speed boat in sight while Calshot's RNLI volunteer team made their way to them.
On arrival the RNLI crew fixed astern tow to the casualty boat and towed them back to Calshot shore, from where the crew helped the casualties recover their speed boat onto their trailer.
Southampton Coastguard Rescue Team were also onhand back at Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Station to offer safety advice to the boat owner.
