One chapter ends and another begins
RNLI Rye Harbour lifeboat station says farewell this week to Tony Edwards, thirty-seven years a volunteer, the last two as LOM (Lifeboat Operations Manager) and welcomes as its new LOM Mark Hall.
Mark has relevant experience of three areas crucial to the good running of a lifeboat station dedicated every single day of every year to saving lives at sea. He was a senior manager of a multi-national company in London and holds an MBA in Business Administration. As a volunteer, he has served both on the Pett Parish Council, for some time as its Chairman, and as a member of the Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat team. Here he has developed a first-hand understanding of water rescues. Finally, he knows the waters of and around Rye Bay well.
'This will be a good challenge and I'm looking forward to it,' Mark reveals. 'Everyone at Rye Harbour station has been very supportive as I follow a steep learning curve. They’ve made someone like me, coming to the post from outside the RNLI, very comfortable'.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea.
