Arbroath RNLI tasked to assist casualty recovery

Arbroath lifeboats were launched yesterday (7 April) to assist paramedic and coastguard teams recover a male casualty from Elliot beach.

Due to the location of the casualty a request for assistance was received from HM Coastguard at approximately 2.40pm and both lifeboats launched shortly after.

Upon arriving on scene the crew on board the inshore lifeboat went ashore to assist with maneuvering the casualty onto a stretcher and helped transfer him to the waiting ambulance.

The crew on board the all-weather lifeboat remained on scene until the incident was safely brought to a conclusion.
Both lifeboats returned to station and were readied for service.

Lifeboat operations manager at Arbroath RNLI, Alex Smith, said: 'It has been an extremely busy time here at Arbroath recently.

Although the crew are volunteers, these incidents are exactly what they are all highly trained to deal with.'
