Four weeks after his accident a grateful teenager visited his rescuers

After falling down a cliff and being injured a teenager called in at the Sheerness RNLI lifeboat station to say thanks to the crew involved in his rescue.

Positive feedback is always welcomed and is what inspires the volunteer crews of the RNLI lifeboats to keep doing the great job they do in saving lives at sea or in the case of 17-year-old Logan Enfield being rescued from an unsafe cliff face on the Isle of Sheppey,Kent

Logan from Chatham along with his dad Rob made a visit to the Sheerness RNLI lifeboat station in Sheerness Docks to personally thank the crew of the inshore lifeboat who assisted and reassured him after he fell down a steep cliff face whilst taking photos on 8 September.

The lifeboat crew responded after a call from the UK Coastguard reported that a person had fallen down the cliffs at Minster and had made an emergency call from a mobile phone stating that he was injured.

Along with the Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Team, who were on the shore, the ILB crew had difficulty locating Logan due to him being in a gully part way down the cliff. He was finally spotted by the Coastguard helicopter which had also been mobilised.

Once Logan’s position was established the crew members from the ILB climbed up the cliff face to assist the Coastguard winchman, who confirmed that Logan had suffered spinal injuries during his fall and would need to be airlifted to hospital immediately.

Logan was taken directly to the William Harvey hospital by the Coastguard helicopter where he remained for three days whilst his injuries were treated.

He is still receiving ongoing treatment but says he is recovering well and is very grateful for the care and attention he received from all the teams involved in his rescue.
