Kirkcaldy TK Maxx Store donates £1,000 to Kinghorn RNLI

A member of the Kirkcaldy store’s team, Jill Goodwin, nominated the Kinghorn RNLI station, which is manned by volunteers and funded by donations, for support from the TK Maxx Community Fund.

Jill, who has lived in Kinghorn her whole life, explained, ‘Having lived in Kinghorn my whole life, the RNLI station is part of our community. My late father, Marshall Drummond, was one of the original crew members when the station opened in 1965.

‘When a TK Maxx customer suffered a heart attack in our store several years ago, Kinghorn crewmember Megan Davidson used her RNLI casualty care training to treat the man, who went on to make a good recovery. It just shows that the skills that volunteers learn with the RNLI can be utilised anytime.

‘The station volunteers are constantly fundraising, with events throughout the year, as well as attending nearly 50 callouts in 2017.

‘The TK Maxx Community Fund is open to all staff members to apply for a grant and has donated thousands of pounds to registered charities over the last few years.

Operations Manager, Joanne Wibberley said, ‘We are extremely grateful to TK Maxx for their continued support. The RNLI is entirely funded by voluntary donations in the UK, and support like this is essential and necessary to enable the RNLI to provide the service around the coast of the UK and Ireland.’

The station will hold its annual Open Day on Saturday 30^th June, with the event starting at noon.
