Looe RNLI volunteers assist in a multi agency rescue
Early this morning, Sunday 27 May 2018, the volunteer lifeboat crew from Looe RNLI assisted in a multi agency rescue of a person at the base of a river embankment. The person was transferred into the inshore lifeboat and taken back to the boathouse and handed into the care of the ambulance service
Looe RNLI volunteers were paged at 3.15 am this morning, Sunday 27 May 2018, Following a request for assistance, via the Coastguard, from the emergency services on scene our volunteer RNLI crew launched the charity’s D Class inshore lifeboat Ollie Naismith and headed up stream, under the bridge and along the East Looe riverbank to help in a multi agency rescue. Using thermal imaging cameras the casualty had been located in a wooded area by the old canal next to the railway line and river bank some 50 metres below Sandplace Road, East Looe.
The casualty was transferred into the inshore lifeboat and was taken back to the boathouse and handed over into the care of the ambulance service.
Weather : Heavy rain, thunder and lightening.
