Tender raises £1200 for Troon Lifeboat

RNLI Offshore members Bob Adams and Gordon Brown recently completed a boat building project that saw them raise £1200 for the RNLI in Troon.

Working on their project one day a week for two years Bob and Gordon built Auk, an eight-foot traditional-looking tender, but having almost given up sailing, they had no use for it themselves, so decided to offer the boat as a fundraising prize for the RNLI.

Yesterday (Wednesday 16 May 2018) their hard work has paid off for the RNLI as they presented Troon Lifeboat Coxswain Joe Millar with a cheque for £1200 after recently selling the finished tender.

After showing Bob and Gordon around the lifeboat station and the lifeboats, Troon Lifeboat Coxswain Joe Millar said: ‘We are really grateful to be given this donation by Bob and Gordon following the completion of their project to build Auk. As the RNLI is funded by voluntary contributions this donation will help us to save lives at sea.’
