Hundreds raised during RNLI Mayday car wash at Hoylake Lifeboat Station
Volunteers from RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station volunteered their time for the station’s annual car wash on Sunday 13th May, raising £1115 for the charity.
As part of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s Mayday fundraising campaign, Hoylake Lifeboat Station became a car wash for the day! Members of the public were invited to bring their cars along for a thorough clean by volunteer crew for just £5 per vehicle and they turned out in their droves. The crew washed 152 vehicles (and a peddle car!) in total, including the Wirral Coastguard vehicle.
Wirral Amateur Radio Club supported the event by broadcasting from the site throughout to promote the work of the RNLI.
Coxswain Andy Dodd said: ‘We want to say a massive thank you to everybody who brought their car out to be cleaned on Sunday! It means a lot to see such positive support from the local community.”
The RNLI’s Mayday campaign runs from 1-31 May. This year, they aim to raise £750,000 to fund the vital kit that will keep lifeboat crewmembers safe, whatever the weather throws at them.
