Looe RNLI’s community safety team will be present to offer safety advice during next Saturday’s Looe Boat Jumble sale. The event at the Quayside Centre West Looe starts at 10am until 4pm. The team will have information on checking the seaworthiness of your craft, lifejackets, safety equipment, radios and location beacons as well as advice on what to do in an emergency.

Anyone who goes out onto the water is invited to bring along their personal lifejackets as Ocean Safety are offering free lifejacket checks. MarineCo, Blackdog and other commercial suppliers will also be there to discuss any repairs that are needed and to demonstrate their range of safety equipment and boat supplies.

Jasper Graham Jones Looe RNLI’s Community Safety Officer explains that: 'This time of year people are getting ready to enjoy going out onto the water as the weather improves. Alongside inspecting the integrity of their boats, canoes or kayaks, servicing engines or outboard motors and checking radios work, it is important that you also check personal safety equipment and this is a great opportunity to ensure personal lifejackets are functioning correctly and not perishing.'
