Porthdinllaen RNLI Lifeboat tows in stricken yacht

UK Coastguard had received a call for assistance from the yacht that they had suffered mechanical failure and with not enough wind to power their sails, they were unable to proceed towards their destination on the Menai Straits. The lifeboat and her volunteer crew launched and were alongside the yacht at a position one mile West of Trefor point. A tow line was successfully passed to the casualty and the two sailors secured the rope to the yacht. with Low tide on the Caernarfon Bar, and not enough waster to navigate safely to the Menai Straits, it was decided to tow the casualty to Porthdinllaen. After securing the yacht to a secure mooring within Porthdinllaen Harbour, the two persons on board were taken ashore by lifeboat. The Lifeboat returned to her station and was refuelled and ready for service by 8:15 PM.
