Looe RNLI volunteers assist a boat with a fouled propeller
Early evening, Thursday 14 June 2018, Looe RNLI volunteer crews launched the charity’s D Class inshore lifeboat and headed up river to assist a boat drifting with a fouled propeller. The volunteer crew disentangled the rope allowing the group on the boat to continue their evening boat trip
At 7.15 pm, Thursday 14 June 2018, Looe RNLI’s volunteers were paged to assist an open boat with a fouled propeller on the West Looe river by the Millpool. Launching at 7.20 pm and arriving on scene shortly afterwards, our crew found a boat with six persons on board drifting in the middle of the river between the Millpool and Trenant Point. A rope had become entangled between the boat's propeller and rudder.
Our volunteer crew were able to disentangle the rope, allowing the group on the boat to continue their evening boat trip.
The volunteer crew returned down river to the boathouse, washed down and refuelled the D Class inshore lifeboat, making her ready for service at 7.50 pm.
