On scene the ILB crew determined that due to the sea swell and wind conditions, the station's Trent class all weather lifeboat (AWB) would be required to tow the yacht into Ramsgate Harbour. At 3.52pm the UK Coastguard requested the launch of the AWB to assist with the tow.

On arrival on scene, the AWB crew passed a line to one of the ILB crew members that had gone aboard the yacht. Once the tow was ready the yacht's crew, with the assistance of the ILB crew member, winched the yacht's anchor aboard. When completed the AWB towed the casualty safely into Ramsgate Harbour.
