Trearddur Bay RNLI receive a great gift
Last Friday we had the pleasure of meeting a truly amazing gentleman, Roger Chisholm.
To give you a measure of the man, Roger wrote his book ‘in the six months immediately after major brain surgery and during on-going chemotherapy,’ his life story, so far, is too good to be done any justice here.
Roger arrived at the station with a surprise, using the proceeds from his book he has donated a military spec thermal imaging camera, an extremely generous gift, to the RNLI which undoubtedly will see somebody at some point in the future return home to their loved ones against the odds.
During the brief presentation Roger spoke eloquently of his amazing journey and of his respect for the women and men of the RNLI and of their bravery.
He described his admiration for human ingenuity, ‘for someone to create something with hundreds of tiny components that can fit on a pinhead coupled with the blood, guts and courage of the RNLI volunteers, is an incredible testimony to human endurance.’
It was a truly humbling experience, if we are half as brave as Roger it will be more than enough.
Rogers book is available through Scotland Street Press.Key facts about the RNLI
