Aldeburgh RNLI Lifeboat station amazed at public reaction
Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station Crew are astonished at the reaction to the news of the break-in just before Christmas.
Prior to Christmas, RNLI crew found the lifeboat station had been broken into with a substantial amount of damage occurring and money (including the crew’s tea and coffee fund) stolen. Following on from the press release to papers, radio and television stations, there has been an incredible response from the public both locally and as far away as Hertfordshire – from donations of money, tea/coffee/biscuits, offers of help with repairs, to a hamper given to the crew from a local shop.
Steve Saint, Coxswain, said ‘We are overwhelmed by the response, which shows true community spirit. From all of the crew at the lifeboat station, a huge heartfelt thanks.’
