Peterhead RNLI Lifeboat launches to report of flashing light off Cruden Bay
The RNLI Peterhead Relief Tamar Lifeboat - Edward and Barbara Prigmore - was requested to launch by HM Coastguard on Friday 16 February 2018 at 6.45 pm with its volunteer crew to a report of a flashing white light off the Cruden Bay or Whinnyfold area.
The light was reported to be flashing a possible SOS code. Cruden Bay Coastguard team was also summoned to carry out a search of the shoreline. The lifeboat conducted a thorough search of the area and no boat was found. The lifeboat was stood down at 8.45 pm, and returned to its berth at 9.25 pm. The sea conditions were 1m swell, and wind was SSW 17 – 23 Knots. Visibility was good.
