Plymouth inshore lifeboat launched twice this weekend
Plymouth's inshore Atlantic 75 lifeboat was tasked on two occasions at the weekend.
The first call came in as the volunteer crew prepared for their Saturday morning training exercise. Falmouth Coastguard sent a launch request at 10.17am on 3 February to launch the inshore lifeboat to assist two persons on board a 24 foot yacht which was berthed at Addison slipway at Cattedown, but had got into difficulty. A man had fallen off the vessel as he tried to attach a mooring bouy to the yacht. He got himself out of the water but then required assistance from the volunteer crew on the lifeboat to reposition their vessel. After securing the vessel the two crew were assisted ashore and the Millennium Forester returned to the lifeboat station and the crew resumed their training exercise.
On Sunday lunchtime, 4 February, the pagers sounded at 12.46pm to assist a 24 foot yacht at anchor at Barn pool. The yacht, with two people on board, was experiencing engine problems. Once on scene a tow was established and the vessel was taken to Saltash.
