Troon RNLI all-weather lifeboat 'RNLB Jim Moffat' launches on service
Belfast Coastguard were alerted to the incident at Prestwick Airport and immediately tasked the all-weather lifeboat along with the Ayr and Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Teams to assist other emergency services also heading to the scene.

The volunteer crew assembled at the station and the Trent class lifeboat RNLB Jim Moffat launched to take up a position near the airport.

Shortly after launch, confirmation came through from Belfast Coastguard that the aircraft had landed safely and so the lifeboat returned to Troon and was made ‘ready for service’ with the assistance of the shore crew.
