Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI crew launched to person in the water

The volunteer crew were quick to arrive on scene, which was only a short distance away from the lifeboat station. A person had entered the water from the pier, and was in difficulty.

On approach the volunteer crew managed to recover the person onto the inshore lifeboat, where they carried out casualty care. The lifeboat was met at the lifeboat station by East of England Ambulance Service, who took the casualty to the local hospital to undergo further assessment.

Volunteer Helmsman and third Coxswain, Rod Wells, said: ‘On this occasion, the person was lucky the crew responded so quickly. I would like to thank the public on the pier who quickly deployed the life buoys, this helped save this person’s life.'
