Moelfre RNLI volunteer crew assist upturned Catamaran.

Lifeboats News Release

The Moelfre RNLI Inshore Lifeboat launched shortly after 13:30 this afternoon to assist with a small sailing catamaran, capsized and partially submerged in Traeth Bychan. Due to the easterly wind, the vessel and it occupants were being driven ashore onto the rocks.

The two occupants struggled to get the Cat upright, so members of the public paddled out to assist on kayaks, but were unsuccessful.

Moelfre Coastguard Rescue Team were on scene and requested the assistance of the lifeboat.

Once at the scene, the lifeboat crew quickly made sure that all persons were safely ashore and that no medical assistance was required. The Moelfre volunteer crew de-rigged the sailing vessel and assisted in its recovery back to the beach.
