Criccieth RNLI Lifeboats launch following report of overdue kayaker

The kayaker had set out at around 1.00pm from Criccieth beach and had been scheduled to arrive at Portmeirion later in the afternoon. As they were overdue, HM Coastguard were notified and subsequently requested the launch of both Lifeboats from Criccieth.

The Station's Atlantic 85 Lifeboat, Doris Joan, launched from Criccieth into heavy seas whilst the Station's inshore rescue boat, Margaret a Nantw, was transported by road to be launched closer to Portmeirion. As the Atlantic 85 Lifeboat made its way across the bay, the kayaker was spotted from land and safely made it ashore. Both boats were stood down and returned to the Station.
