Troon lifeboats launch to assist in missing person search

The volunteer crew launched Trent class all-weather lifeboat RNLB Jim Moffat and D Class inshore lifeboat Telford Shopping Centre to assist local police officers and Coastguard teams from Ayr and Ardrossan in the search.

A search area was provided by Belfast Coastguard and the crew undertook a search of this area while the Coastguard teams searched along the shore.

With the area searched and nothing found, both lifeboats were stood down by Belfast Coastguard pending any new information.

At 9.45pm on Saturday 14 April 2018, Belfast Coastguard were contacted by Police Scotland requesting the launch of the inshore lifeboat to carry out a further search.

The volunteer crew assembled at the lifeboat station and launched D Class inshore lifeboat Telford Shopping Centre to assist.

Coastguard teams from Ayr and Ardrossan were also tasked to carry out a shoreline search.

After a couple of hours the search area was completed and nothing was found, so the lifeboat was stood down by Belfast Coastguard pending any new information.

At 12.26pm on Sunday 15 April 2018, Police Scotland again requested the launch of the inshore lifeboat.

The D Class inshore lifeboat Telford Shopping Centre was launched while the remaining crew assisted Ayr and Ardrossan Coastguard Teams with a shoreline search.

Working with the local Coastguard Senior Coastal Operations Officers (SCOO) and officers from Police Scotland, the search area was covered by the RNLI and Coastguard teams and nothing was found, so all the search teams were stood down by Belfast Coastguard.

The lifeboat returned to station and was made 'Ready for Service' with the assistance of the shore crew.

Carol Rennie (48) was last seen around 6.50pm on Tuesday 10 April at an address on Welbeck Crescent, Troon.

She is described as 5ft 8, medium build with collar length fair hair. When last seen she was wearing bright coloured sports leggings, a bright coloured sports top and a long grey puffer-style jacket with a furry hood.
