St Davids RNLI all-weather lifeboat launched to overdue RHIB
On Friday October (27) at 8.10pm St Davids RNLI all-weather lifeboat was tasked to search for a rigid inflatable boat (RHIB) with three persons onboard which was reported overdue back at Dale.
The vessel was reported to be shark fishing in an area between the Smalls lighthouse into the Celtic Deep.
Other units tasked were Angle RNLI all-weather lifeboat, Dale Coastguard team, Coastguard helicopter R187 together with Dyfed Powys Police officers.
The St Davids lifeboat headed for The Smalls lighthouse and then commenced its search, using its search lights, night vision goggles and FLIR camera.
At its furthest point the lifeboat was 27 miles south west of the station.
Soon after arriving on scene the helicopter R187, found a RHIB matching the description heading back to Dale.
Once it was confirmed by Dale Coastguards that this was the vessel that had been reported overdue, all units were stood with the lifeboat arriving back at St Davids lifeboat station at 11.30pm.
