Walkers complete Ceredigion endurance challenge for RNLI
The challenge was to walk the whole of the Ceredigion Coast Path in under 24 hours – a formidable task.
The three Aberaeron men, Chris Evans, Mike Williams and Ian Boland, seen in the photograph, set off north from Cardigan on Saturday 8 July and completed the whole 60-mile distance in 22 hours and 45 minutes. The coast path can be difficult enough to negotiate in daylight so they had to be particularly careful during the night hours.
Their walk was in aid of three charities, namely Motor Neurone Disease, Prostate Cancer and the RNLI and they collected £2796, which was split equally between the three. A further £424.00 was collected from late donations for New Quay RNLI and they presented a cheque for this amount to Roger Couch, Lifeboat Operations Manager when they visited the l station on Wednesday evening (11 October).

New Quay RNLI lifeboat station has been operating since 1864. Today there are twenty five trained crew members, a Mersey class all weather lifeboat and an inshore rescue craft.
