Beaumaris lifeboat volunteers experience that Deja vu feeling re launch today
At the request of H. M Coastguard the volunteer crew members of the R N L I Beaumaris lifeboat were paged at 4.53 pm on Sunday 4 June 2017 to vessel near Puffin Island.
Once the information was received some of the volunteers present today felt they had heard this information very recently as the Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington had launched at 4.04 pm on Saturday 3 June 2017 to assist a 35 foot vessel with a fouled propeller located north east of Puffin Island.
In that instance after ensuring that the two adults aboard did not require any medical attention the lifeboat then took the craft in tow into the Menai Strait during which time it became possible to remove the rope from the boat propeller so that she was then able to proceed under her own power.
The lifeboat returned with the vessel as far as Beaumaris whilst the casualty craft proceeded to a mooring further along the Menai Strait.
Today the vessel was a 30 foot craft which had fouled her anchor cable near Puffin Island.
In this case the lifeboat had to manoeuvre the casualty boat in order to free the anchor from the sea bed, however it was not possible to free the boat propeller. Consequently the lifeboat towed the boat to the outer wall at Port Penrhyn in order that repairs could be undertaken at low tide.
The lifeboat the returned to her station at Beaumaris at 7.20 pm being refuelled and prepared for her next service by 7.45 pm.
