The RB Hull Marathon - make your miles matter by running for the RNLI
The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) has been chosen as a charity partner for the RB Hull Marathon which takes place on Sunday 24 September.
This year sees a revised route that will provide participants with an exciting running tour of the 2017 UK City of Culture.
Starting in West Park and finishing inside the KCOM Stadium, highlights will include landmarks such the Humber Bridge, Queen Victoria Square, The Old Town, Spurn Lightship and the Marina.
The charity is calling on people who have already signed up to the marathon to consider running to help save lives at sea. It’s also hoped that runners who are looking for a rewarding challenge will sign up and choose to support the RNLI.
There are four RNLI lifeboat stations in East Yorkshire and Amy Casbolt, RNLI Fundraising Manager said: ‘The RNLI is delighted to have been chosen as one of the charities for the RB Hull Marathon. The newly revamped event will provide a fantastic opportunity for people to take on an exciting challenge while knowing that every step is helping to save lives at sea.
‘We’d love it if people signed up as soon as possible and ran on our behalf. We’ll provide people with an RNLI running vest, sponsor forms and of course lots of cheering and encouragement on the day.’
Lucas Meagor, RB Hull Marathon Race Director, said: ‘We are delighted to have the RNLI on board as one of this year's charity partners. With the city's maritime history and a route that goes through the ABP Docks and over the Humber, this is a great chance to help the community give something back.’
