Fishing boat under tow

The Mumbles All weather lifeboat was launched to assist the 18ft fishing boat with 2 people on board as their engine had failed and the boat was taking on water at the Mixon Bank.

Within 10 minutes the boat was taken in tow. The crew of the fishing boat managed to restart their engine and made their own way to Swansea Marina. The All weather lifeboat escorted them to port and returnegd to station.

Coxswain Martin Double said 'We were getting concerned as even on a calm day boats can easily be flipped over on the Mixon sands. Thankfully the skipper called for help as soon as he was in trouble. We would always advise anyone taking to the water, weather at sea or inland water ways there's lots of information on our website. WWW. RNLI.ORG.UK
