Stranraer lifeboat assists fishing boat with dragging anchor
On Sunday 29th January, Belfast coastguard requested the assistance of Stranraer RNLI Lifeboat to go to the aid of fishing boat AMPS which had lost all power and was dragging its anchor heading towards the rocks.
After launching from Ardwell slip, the lifeboat was soon along side the vessel where the crew were well, and relieved to see the lifeboat. The volunteer lifeboat crew rigged up a tow and passed it to the fishing boat. With Drummore harbour a no-go because of the low tide Stranraer lifeboat headed towards port William where they met up with Port William inshore rescue boat (IRB) and swapped over the tow of FV Amps. Port William IRB headed towards Port William harbour. Stranraer lifeboat then recovered at Ardwell slip and headed back to the lifeboat station by road.
