
Pwllheli RNLI launch to person in water in near freezing conditions
Pwllheli RLNI inshore lifeboat’s first call of the year was to a person in the water in near freezing conditions.
At 8.50pm on Thursday (12 January) Holyhead Coastguard tasked the Pwllheli RNLI lifeboat to carry out a search for a person reported in the water at Pwllheli Marina.
The emergency call was made by a local resident who heard a shout for help near the Marina berths as air temperatures plummeted to around freezing and sleet and snow fell.
The inshore lifeboat and its volunteer crew started the search of the Marina at 8:56pm whilst the Pwllheli RNLI shore crew carried out a shoreline search of the Marina.
The casualtty was recovered from the water by the Marina staff.
The inshore lifeboat crew arrived shortly after to assist with first aid whilst the ambulance was on route. Additionally, two crew members, an off duty paramedic and a first responder, made their way from the station to the Marina to assist with first aid.
The casualty was transferred to the ambulance safely and the lifeboat returned to station.
