Second launch request of 2017 for the volunteer crew at Beaumaris lifeboat.

At 9.58 am on Sunday 1 January 2017 at the request of U.K.Coastguard the volunteer crew members of the R N L I Beaumaris lifeboat were paged to investigate a report of a boat adrift near Port Dinorwic.

As the crew had not long returned home from the previous service request the Beaumaris Inshore Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington was launched at 10.05 am and proceeded to the reported location of the casualty vessel.

Once on scene it became clear that the rowing boat was in very poor condition and probably a derelict that had been washed from the shore.The lifeboat returned this vessel to the shore at Moel y Don and then continued with a search of the area to ensure that no one was in the water. Having discussed the situation with the Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team who had attended at Port Dinorwic permission was given by U.K. Coastguard for the lifeboat to return to her station.

The Atlantic 85 lifeboat arrived back at Beaumaris at 10.55 am being refuelled and ready for further service by 11.25 am.

The volunteer crew then had to get ready to reassemble on Beaumaris Green by 1.00 pm as they are competing in the annual New Year’s Day Tug of War and Tractor Pull events.
