Broken down leisure craft assisted by Littlehampton RNLI.

Lifeboats News Release

Littlehampton RNLI’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Renée Sherman and volunteer crew launched at 3.40pm on Saturday 4 February following a mobile call to the UK Coastguard from the single crew member stating that his boat had broken down and he was unable to get back to Ford Marina.

The lifeboat and crew headed out in fine weather conditions towards the reported location just off Rustington beach, one mile east of the harbour entrance.

At the scene, the lifeboat crew helped the male to re-start the vessel's engine. The casualty was then able to make the return journey along the River Arun to Ford Marina under its own power, with the lifeboat in attendance.

Once the vessel was safely secured at its moorings the lifeboat returned to the station where it was refuelled and made ready for service.
