New LOM at Port Erin

Phillip Crellin has been announced as the new Lifeboat Operations Manager for Port Erin Lifeboat Station.

A second generation RNLI volunteer, Phillip follows in the footsteps of his late father Henry who also held the position of LOM (Hon Sec).

Phillip was a volunteer crewmember on Port Erin's Rother class lifeboat 'Osman Gabriel' between 1987 & 1992 until it was replaced with Atlantic 21 lifeboat 'Herbert & Edith' where he became helmsman. Upon retirement from crew duties in 2004 Phillip continued to volunteer at the station becoming a Deputy Launching Authority.

He now takes over the role of LOM from Captain Chris Burton who although leaving the position will continue as DLA.

Phillip's first news was being told that following the recent Coast Review led by Commodore David Squire of Island stations it was seen that the station was in good state and that there should be no change to the lifesaving configuration provided by Port Erin Lifeboat Station.
